SYNOPSIS

A documentary by an Asian, about Asian boys. In one-on-one interviews, Asian men from the Canadian city talk about being Asian in Western culture, particularly when captions such as "not fat, not female, not Asian" are increasingly common in gay dating advertisements. The problem with such a statement is that no one can change their ethnic origin, but they can change their weight and the way they act. Asians - specifically East and Southeast Asians - are generally viewed as the least physically attractive cultural group in Western society ... and South Asians are not far behind. This awareness of what could be seen as racial discrimination, and not just a preference, has increased with dating and dating sites and apps like Grindr. Beyond the discrimination they have faced in their sexual lives, the interviewees talk about their own sexual preferences in terms of race, why they think it may be and what they have done to address them; what they think their sex life would be like if they were white; what being Asian means to your life in a holistic sense; the role of pop culture and the media in shaping one's own vision of attractiveness; how being Asian has affected their livelihoods, especially those who work in the entertainment business; who they would consider a role model in their own culture, especially when they were older; if they see a change in attitude in society in general and / or in the media; and how they feel about themselves in light of all these issues.
